Hello Football Families,
Senior Teacher Appreciation Night is this Friday October 7th. Seniors its time to select a teacher that has impacted your high school career the most.
Your Task:
1. Select a Teacher and invite them to our game this Friday (Teachers and their families enter for free).
2. Write a hand written thank you (See Example)
3. Take a picture with your letter and jersey (I will give you a jersey for this) and then submit the photo of this to Coach Goodman
3. Give them the jersey with with the letter.
4. Have this completed by 10/05
In addition we have a home game this Friday night at Escondido High School. Home games help generate revenue for our football program through ticket sales and especially snack bar. We need all hands on deck to help Christie Elliott. We need every family to volunteer at least 1 time in the snack bar this season. In closing, watching our team persevere through the adversity of the first half of the game last Friday night made me very proud to be your coach. The lessons we learn from playing football will carry over into all areas of our lives. I am so thankful to see this team learning how to work together on and off the field. From our scout teams, special teams, offense and our defense… we know that it truly takes all of us giving our best each play of practice and each play of the game to achieve our team goal of a CIF title this season.
Our goals are important to set, but you need to also remember your purpose. Our purpose as athletes is to work hard, to live pure, to lead with courage and to honor our team. While goals are achieved, let’s also fulfill our purpose. Let’s “Play as One” and let’s “Finish as One!”
This weeks John Wooden focus is “Love.”
Coach Wooden said “Love is the most powerful four-letter word.” Coaching players to love one another can be a very challenging concept when they are tackling one another day after day in practice. However the thought here is that our motive should be wanting the best for one another, to care for others, and to be committed to one another through the highs and lows. Love will ultimately be more productive then criticism. My Father once told me that “love” will always have the final word!
Play as One!
