UPDATE FOR ECHS TRACK & FIELD (WEEK OF 3/4) - PLEASE READ NEWS UPDATE POSTED ON 3/6
Hello ECHS Players and Families,
We have officially entered meet season! This past month flew by and we are excited to kick off this month with our first League Meet this Thursday, March 7th and show off some of our hard work. - CANCELLED 3/6 update
Practice is CANCELLED today. Please go out and support our girl's basketball team as they play here in San Diego tonight!! There will also be a watch party at Tony Pepperoni on Grand in Esco! So proud of our girl's basketball team and the track team as a whole wants to show our support! Lastly, Wednesday's practice will not be at OGHS since the Coastal League will be having their meet. We will be at EscoCharter. Please take a look below for what your should be doing in place of no practice.
- DISTANCE: 4 mile at 80% with ten 50 yard fartleks in the run on their own
- SPRINTERS: warmup as needed. Workout: 3x100m strider walk back
5x200m run @80-90%. 800m-1600m cooldown - JUMPERS/THROWERS: stretch, postures
REMINDERS TO CONTINUE TO KEEP IN MIND:
- all students are in charge of their own transportation to OGHS and all meets/invites
- please ALWAYS refer to our website daily as this will be our main form of communication and it will contain updates regarding practices, locations, news, etc.

Please remember to carbo-load on Wednesday night (you are welcome to bring a little bowl of pasta to our practice to enjoy towards the end).
IMPORTANT: SHOES
You need your foot to be solid. You need good shoes. You’re going to be on your toes a lot!
SPRINTERS: a pair of track spikes—extremely lightweight, stiff-soled shoes and have spikes (aka, “pins”) attached underneath the forefoot. Runner’s World. Only 3/16” needle spikes will be permitted on the track and runways. NO PYRAMID SPIKES WILL BE PERMITTED.
THROWERS (shot put, discus): there are shoes specifically made for events like this. My recommendations: Nike Zoom Rotationals, Asics Throw Pro, and Under Armor Centric Grip. These can be bought at Big 5, Dicks Sporting Goods.
JUMPERS: Jumping Track Spikes
DISTANCE: Any good running shoes (similar to those in Cross Country). My recommendation: Brooks!

Thursday: LEAGUE MEET #1 at OGHS, 4pm (early release at 2:30pm. be there by 3pm!!) - CANCELLED, practice at ECHS 6PM
Friday: Practice at OGHS 6-7:30PM (wear your uniforms and warm-ups for our official team photo)
